Don X. Nguyen is a tenured Associate Professor at the Yale School of Medicine , holding joint appointments in the Department of Pathology and Medical Oncology and Hematology . He co-leads the Cancer Signaling Networks program at the Yale Cancer Center and directs the Nguyen Laboratory , specializing in CNS metastasis biology and epigenetic regulation of tumor progression. PhD in Microbiology & Immunology (University of Rochester, 2004) Postdoctoral Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Institute (2009) His research focuses on epigenetic regulation in tumor progression, particularly examining cell lineage control , cell-cell communication in disseminated tumor cells, and mechanisms linking drug resistance to brain metastasis . The lab develops novel metastasis models with expertise in central nervous system metastasis biology. Recent publications highlight his work on epigenetic drivers of metastasis (2025), immune landscape profiling in radiation necrosis (2024-2025), and drug resistance mechanisms in EGFR-mutant lung cancer (2024). His team collaborates with clinical researchers like Veronica Chiang and Katerina Politi on translational projects. Scientific honors include: Stewart Trust Scholar (2013) IASLC Young Investigator Award (2012) Yale Center for Clinical Investigation Scholar (2011) Class of 1961 Cancer Research Award (2021) The lab maintains affiliations with the Yale Stem Cell Center , Program in Translational Biomedicine , and SPORE in Lung Cancer initiatives.
