Mehmet Keskin is a Professor at Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Child Health and Diseases. His primary research focus is in Pediatric Endocrinology, with particular expertise in thyroid disorders, diabetes, growth disorders, and adrenal diseases in children. Dr. Keskin completed his medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine (1986-1995), followed by medical specialization in Child Health and Diseases at the same institution (1996-2001). He further specialized in Pediatric Endocrinology at Erciyes University (2002-2005). Since 2006, he has served as a Professor at Gaziantep University. His research interests span multiple areas of pediatric endocrinology including thyroid disorders (particularly congenital hypothyroidism and thyroid nodules), diabetes mellitus (especially Type 1 diabetes and its complications), adrenal disorders (including congenital adrenal hyperplasia), growth disorders, puberty disorders, and metabolic diseases. His work often focuses on the Turkish population, particularly in Southeastern Anatolia. Dr. Keskin has published extensively with over 150 articles in international journals, with recent work focusing on genetic aspects of endocrine disorders, genotype-phenotype correlations, and epidemiological studies of endocrine conditions in Turkish children. His research shows a strong emphasis on translating genetic findings into clinical practice and improving screening programs for endocrine disorders. He has authored or co-authored 5 book chapters on pediatric endocrinology topics, including works on thyroid diseases, adrenal disorders, and metabolic diseases in children. Dr. Keskin's work has significant clinical implications for the diagnosis and management of pediatric endocrine disorders in Turkey and contributes to the global understanding of these conditions, particularly in understudied populations.
