Maurizio Tomasella is a Reader in Management Science at the University of Edinburgh Business School and a Chancellor's Fellow . He previously served as a Research Associate at the AutoID Lab and Distributed Information and Automation Lab at Cambridge University Engineering Department, and as a Research Fellow at Politecnico di Milano. Recent publications explore simheuristics for workforce planning and dynamic operational policies in airport systems, leveraging Discrete Event Simulation and Stochastic Modeling . Scientific Awards Best Contributed Applied Paper (2024) As a principal investigator, he has led projects such as EPSRC IAA PV014 (2022–2023) on airport operational resilience and Modelling Edinburgh Airport's Baggage Overhaul System (2015–2016).
