Dr. Rochelle Taylor is a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence/Data Science at the Department of Computing and Mathematics, Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). Previously, she was a Lecturer in Geology at Edge Hill University. She holds a PhD in Structural Geology and Geophysics from the University of Manchester (2013), an MSc in Data Science (Distinction) from MMU, and a MESci in Geology from the University of Manchester. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Her research focuses on environmental and sustainable subsurface resource extraction, geophysical analysis of air quality via road traffic vibrations, and AI ethics. Current projects include seismotrair (road traffic-air quality forecasting), HydroDetect ML (subsurface hydrogen detection), and XRF Analytics (Greenland sediment analysis). She also explores health informatics ( CPET ML for surgical risk prediction) and community engagement in AI ( PEAs in Pods ). Teaching roles include Course Leader for the MSc Data Science and Module Leader for Principles of Data Science, Machine Learning Concepts, and Ethics of AI. Awards include HEA Fellowship. Her research outputs span geoscience, AI ethics, and fracture mechanics, with recent work addressing energy transition and community perspectives on AI.
