Dr. Mahendiran Dharmasivam is a National Breast Cancer Foundation Fellow at the School of Environment and Science , Griffith University. His research focuses on Medicinal Chemistry , Metal Chemistry , and Anticancer Drug Development , with recent work on thiosemicarbazone derivatives and metal complexes targeting breast cancer and drug resistance. NHMRC MRFF Grant (2024-2026) NBCF Elaine Henry Fellowship (2023) Research Trends : Designing selenium/sulfur-substituted thiosemicarbazones for reduced off-target toxicity Metal complexes (Ru(II), Cu(II), Zn(II)) for ROS-mediated apoptosis and metastasis suppression Lysosomal targeting to overcome P-glycoprotein resistance Mechanistic studies of NDRG1 as a metastasis suppressor in breast and pancreatic cancer Scientific Awards : National Breast Cancer Foundation Elaine Henry Fellowship NHMRC MRFF Grant Teaching & Supervision : Mentored 24 students/scholars (3 Honours, 4 M.Sc., 5 M.Phil., 3 Ph.D., 10 undergraduates, 2 postdocs). Currently supervises 7 researchers (1 Honours, 5 Ph.D., 1 postdoc). Collaborations & Facilities : Member of the Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics (2024-present) and Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery (2020-2024). Involved in equipment grants for the Griffith University Open-Access Molecular and Translational Research Hub and ZebraLAB screening platform.
