Lambros Koutas serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Thessaly, where he is a core member of the Laboratory of Reinforced Concrete Technology and Constructions within the Structural Engineering Department. Appointed as Assistant Professor in 2018, he achieved permanent status in 2022 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2024. His educational background includes a Diploma in Civil Engineering (2008), Postgraduate Diploma in Seismic Design of Structures (2010), and PhD in Civil Engineering (2015), all from the University of Patras. Prior to his current role, he completed 3.5 years of postdoctoral research at the University of Nottingham and University of Sheffield. Research focuses on experimental behavior of concrete structures, seismic retrofitting using composite materials, and structural modeling. He directs Horizon 2020 research programs and contributes to international standards through fib Task Group 5.1 (FRP Reinforcement) and RILEM MCC Technical Committee (Textile Reinforced Concrete). With over 50 publications in international journals and conferences, his work emphasizes practical applications in earthquake-prone infrastructure. He serves on the editorial board of ASCE's Journal of Composites for Construction and has reviewed 270+ articles across 32 journals. Undergraduate Courses: Evaluation and Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete Structures, Reinforced Concrete I, Reinforced Concrete II Postgraduate Courses: Pre-earthquake and post-earthquake interventions in existing structures His laboratory supports experimental testing of concrete, steel, and composite structural systems, advancing both educational and industrial research in structural resilience.
