Dr Hessam Jahangiri is a Course Leader and Senior Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University's College of Business, Technology and Engineering. His research focuses on renewable energy and sustainability, particularly biomass thermal conversion, catalysis, and low-carbon energy solutions. He holds a PhD in Bioenergy and Catalysis from Cranfield University and an MEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham. Dr Jahangiri's academic journey includes a Research Fellowship at the University of Birmingham's School of Chemical Engineering before joining Sheffield Hallam. He teaches modules such as Sustainable Chemical Engineering, Chemical Reaction Engineering, and Sustainable Design Project. His research projects include leading the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production from Solid Waste (2023–2026) and co-investigating the South Yorkshire Sustainability Centre (SYSC) and EPSRC-funded initiatives. Key themes in his work include waste-to-energy systems, catalytic processes, and renewable fuel development. Dr Jahangiri has contributed to over 30 publications, including studies on thermo-catalytic reforming, pyrolysis kinetics, and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. His work bridges academic research and industrial applications, aiming to advance sustainable energy technologies.
