Roxana Burciu is an Assistant Professor at the University of Delaware's College of Health Sciences, Department of Kinesiology & Applied Physiology. Her research focuses on neuroimaging correlates of motor impairment in Parkinson's disease, clinical markers of prodromal PD, and neuroimaging outcomes in rehabilitation. PhD in Neuroscience (University of Duisburg-Essen, 2013) M.Res in Cognitive Neuropsychology (University of Birmingham, 2009) B.Sc in Psychology (Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, 2008) Dr. Burciu's work employs non-invasive brain imaging and behavioral assessments to study Parkinson's disease mechanisms and rehabilitation strategies. She explores functional connectivity changes, free-water diffusion markers, and motor cortex physiology. The Motor Neuroscience and Neuroimaging Research Lab , under her direction, investigates neural mechanisms in health and disease, with recent studies on multi-limb coordination in PD and aging brain microstructural changes. Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher Fellowship (2010) Her recent publications (2023-2025) analyze Parkinson's progression via structural/imaging biomarkers, bimanual coordination deficits, and sodium-sensing brain networks. Collaborative grants with institutions like University of Florida and NIH support her work.
