Daniel Studenmund is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Binghamton University. His research lies at the intersection of geometric group theory and discrete subgroups of Lie groups, focusing on abstract commensurators and quantifying residual finiteness through invariants like Comm(G). PhD and MS in Mathematics from the University of Chicago BA in Mathematics from Haverford College His research explores the structure of finite-index subgroups, superrigidity, and cohomology of arithmetic groups using algebraic and geometric methods. Recent work includes studies on topological models of commensurators, surface group invariants, and growth rates of lattice functions. He has held positions supported by NSF Research Training Group grants at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Utah. His office contact is dstudenm@binghamton.edu and Binghamton University's address.
