Serap ÖZBAŞ serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Child Development within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Istanbul Beykent University. She teaches undergraduate courses including Community Service Practices, Teaching Principles and Methods, Preschool Science and Mathematics, and Children and the Environment, demonstrating active engagement in child development education. Her research centers on environmental education in preschool contexts and biology education at secondary levels, with consistent focus on student motivation, biodiversity awareness, and teacher efficacy. She investigates anthropocentric/ecocentric attitudes, conceptual understanding of biological phenomena like obesity, and emotional intelligence in educational leadership, primarily through survey-based methodologies in Turkish and Turkish Cypriot settings. Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals evolving research trajectories toward sustainability education and psychological aspects of science learning. Her work increasingly examines corporate environmental attitudes and graduate thesis trends while maintaining core investigations into student-teacher dynamics in biology education, reflecting both continuity and expansion in her scholarly contributions. As a former FEAD member (2012-2022) with active OrcID registration (0000-0002-3194-4018), she maintains professional engagement in educational research communities while leading her department's academic operations.
