Dóra Várnai is an External Lecturer at the Department of Clinical Psychology and Addiction, and an External Member of the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children Research Group (HBSC). Her research focuses on adolescent health, bullying dynamics, mental health, and public health interventions in school and healthcare settings. She has conducted extensive studies on the psychological and social impacts of bullying, substance use, and pandemic effects on youth well-being. Her work spans epidemiological analyses of health behaviors, cross-national comparisons of youth violence, and the development of monitoring systems for child nutritional status. Notable projects include studies on bullying roles and self-injury, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on schoolchildren, and the implementation of anti-bullying programs in Hungarian schools. Várnai’s research emphasizes latent class analysis for categorizing violence and substance use patterns, contributing to evidence-based policy recommendations. She collaborates with international organizations like the WHO European Region, focusing on Central and Eastern European populations. Her publications highlight the intersection of social determinants—such as age, gender, and class—with health outcomes in children and adolescents.
