Diane King is a Research Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Behavioral Health Research and Services (CBHRS) at the University of Alaska Anchorage, operating within the Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER). She joined UAA in 2011 as a Research Assistant Professor and focuses on chronic disease prevention through behavioral interventions in healthcare and community settings. Education: Ph.D. in Health and Behavioral Science, University of Colorado Denver (2006) Her research targets eating, physical activity, alcohol, and substance use behaviors to promote population health. Using stakeholder-driven partnership approaches, she designs feasible interventions emphasizing real-world implementation and evidence-based practice adoption. Key areas include implementation science, dissemination frameworks (RE-AIM/CFIR), and sustainability of preventive programs across diverse populations. Analysis of her publications reveals consistent expertise in citizen science for age-friendly environments, multi-setting substance use interventions, and physical activity promotion. Her work prioritizes practical applicability through collaborations with healthcare systems and community organizations. Dr. King secures state and federal grants for research and mentors undergraduate/graduate researchers. Her projects emphasize community engagement to accelerate evidence translation into practice. As CBHRS Director, she leads a team translating behavioral health research into services, addressing Alaska-specific challenges through partnership-based approaches.
