Dr. Rebecca Scott is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Cardiff Business School, with a focus on the sociocultural and qualitative dimensions of marketing. Her academic journey includes a PhD from the University of New South Wales (2015) and a BSc in Business Administration (First Class Honours) from the University of Bath (2009).
Research Interests: Rebecca specializes in experiential and embodied consumption, exploring how consumers interact with pain, humor, and multisensory environments. Her work bridges marketing, sociology, anthropology, and cultural studies, with notable contributions to understanding elite kitchens, adventure sports, and organ donation narratives.
Media & Awards: Her research on pain and sedentary lifestyles has been featured in The Atlantic, The Guardian, and BBC. She received the 2018 Sidney J. Levy Award for best dissertation-based paper and multiple UNSW scholarships.
Teaching: Rebecca teaches Cultural Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and Qualitative Research Methods, praised for her engaging pedagogy and student-centered approach. She currently supervises Wahura Kabutha on topics related to consumer body studies and humor in business.
