Aaron James Goldman is a Researcher in Philosophy of Religion at Lund University's Centre for Theology and Religious Studies in Sweden. He also serves as a guest researcher at the University of Copenhagen's Søren Kierkegaard Research Centre. His work bridges philosophical theology, modern European thought, and contemporary cultural analysis, with a particular focus on how religious concepts shape political movements and individual agency. Dr. Goldman received his PhD in Religious Studies with a specialization in Philosophy of Religion from Harvard University in 2021. His academic background includes an MA in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia (2010) and dual bachelor's degrees in Religious Studies and Biology from Indiana University (2008). He has also pursued specialized study at St. Olaf College's Hong Kierkegaard Library (2015) and the University of Copenhagen's Kierkegaard Research Centre (2016-2018, 2023). His research focuses on two primary trajectories: examining Søren Kierkegaard's accounts of faith and modernity, and investigating conspiritualities (including movements like QAnon) through the lens of modern philosophy and classical theories of religion. He explores fundamental questions about how religious ideas structure moral obligation and shape the self, particularly examining concepts such as freedom, love, justice, eternality, and sin. His work demonstrates how theological frameworks connect to contemporary ethics, politics, and popular culture. Dr. Goldman's publications reveal a consistent pattern of connecting historical philosophical concepts to current cultural phenomena. Recent works analyze Donald Trump's political success through the lens of apocalyptic and conspiracist movements, applying concepts like 'kayfabe' from professional wrestling to understand political performance. His scholarship on Kierkegaard, particularly Fear and Trembling, provides the theoretical foundation for his analyses of contemporary political phenomena. RJ-funded research program: 'At the End of the World' (2023-2028) 'Beyond Truth and Lies' project funded by LMK Foundation (2023-2024) 'Kierkegaard, Modernity & Critique' funded by Crafoord Foundation 'Resources in Kierkegaard for Rethinking the Religious & the Secular' funded by American Scandinavian Foundation As an active academic, Dr. Goldman participates in numerous scholarly activities including conference presentations, workshop organization, and public lectures. He is affiliated with Lund's 'Christianity & Nationalism' research platform and contributes to Lund University's research profile in Human Rights, demonstrating his commitment to addressing contemporary social issues through philosophical and theological inquiry.
