Connie Berthelsen is a Professor and Head of Research at the IRS Research Unit for Clinical Nursing, Department of Regional Health Research, University of Southern Denmark, affiliated with the Department of Medicine in Køge. Her work bridges clinical nursing, patient safety, and healthcare systems, with a strong focus on transitional care and chronic disease management. PhD in Nursing Science, University of Southern Denmark (2013) Master of Science in Nursing, Aarhus University (2007) Diploma in Nursing, Aarhus University (2003) Her research centers on improving clinical nursing practices, particularly in the context of elderly care, multimorbidity, and the integration of newly graduated nurses into healthcare systems. Her recent publications show a consistent focus on transitional care, nurse retention, delirium management, and interdisciplinary coordination in hospitals. She frequently uses umbrella and systematic reviews to synthesize evidence, and her work increasingly explores the role of AI in qualitative data analysis. The Rosemary Crow Award (2015) Fellow of the European Academy of Nursing Science (FEANS) Connie Berthelsen actively supervises PhD students and leads multiple research projects, including EU and nationally funded initiatives. She collaborates extensively with hospitals and universities across Denmark. Her teaching and supervision roles emphasize evidence-based practice and research methodology in nursing.
