معرفی
Suzanne B. Evans, MD, MPH, FASTRO is Professor of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale School of Medicine specializing in breast cancer radiotherapy. She holds appointments in multiple Yale-affiliated centers including the Breast Cancer Radiotherapy Center, Center for Breast Cancer, DNA Damage and Genome Integrity Program for Biomedical Ethics, Yale Cancer Center, and Yale Medicine. Her clinical practice focuses on providing care for patients with breast cancer while minimizing treatment side effects and maximizing cure rates.
- MD from Tulane University School of Medicine (2001)
- MPH from Tulane University (2001)
- Residency in Internal Medicine at Tulane University Hospital Clinic (2004)
- Residency in Radiation Oncology at Tufts-New England Medical Center (2008)
Dr. Evans' research centers on quality and safety in cancer care, with specific interests in cognitive bias, comparative effectiveness, and patient communication. Her work examines how decision-making processes impact treatment allocation, particularly in breast cancer care where she investigates age cutoff bias in adjuvant therapy. She has developed innovative approaches to enhance radiation safety through multi-institutional collaboration and incident learning systems. Her passion extends to medical education, where she has pioneered high-yield physics educational content for radiation oncology residents through video-based learning resources.
Analysis of Dr. Evans' recent publications reveals a strong focus on quality assurance systems in radiation oncology, with significant contributions to understanding cognitive biases in treatment decisions, pandemic safety at medical conferences, and innovative medical education techniques. Her work spans breast cancer treatment optimization, radiation safety protocols, and healthcare policy issues including reproductive justice in oncology care.
Dr. Evans currently serves as chair of ASTRO's Clinical Affairs and Quality Council. She has previously chaired the multidisciplinary quality assurance subcommittee with the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, served as chair of the best of ASTRO meeting, and was part of ASTRO's annual meeting steering committee and Education committee. She retired as an executive editor for the journal Practical Radiation Oncology and served as Chair of the Radiation Oncology Health Advisory Committee.
Dr. Evans is passionate about advancing Women in STEM fields and maintains a patient-centered philosophy emphasizing that 'no matter who you are, you are safe to receive care with Dr. Evans.' She actively works to create inclusive environments in both clinical practice and academic medicine, with a focus on minimizing treatment side effects while maximizing therapeutic outcomes for breast cancer patients.
