Dr Sarah Fox is a Senior Research Associate at Manchester Metropolitan University's School of Nursing and Public Health, specializing in qualitative women's health research. She works within the Substance Use and Associated Behaviours (SUAB) research group, focusing on the intersection of domestic abuse and substance use. PhD in Qualitative Women's Health Research (Manchester Met, 2019) MSc in Drug and Alcohol Studies (University of Glasgow) MSc in Applied Social Research (Trinity College Dublin) BA (Hons) in Humanities (Dublin City University) Sarah's research explores the lived experiences of women facing co-occurring domestic abuse and substance use, with a particular emphasis on South Asian communities. She employs narrative life-story methods enhanced by creative approaches to amplify marginalized voices and inform policy. Her recent publications analyze alcohol use patterns among South Asian women, coercive control mechanisms, and trauma-informed care models. She advocates for integrated support systems that address both substance use and domestic abuse in her collaborations with organizations like AVA (Against Violence and Abuse) and Adfam.
