Evania Lina Fasya is a PhD candidate at Leiden University and the University of Twente, affiliated with the unit of Cognitive Psychology at Leiden and the Human-Media Interaction Department at Twente. Her research investigates how individuals perceive virtual human emotional expressions and the role of social anxiety in these interactions, emphasizing eye contact, mimicry, and physiological responses. Evania earned a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Indonesia (2013) and a Master of Computer Science from the University of Twente (2017), with specializations in Information Systems and Interaction Technology . Her research interests span virtual reality applications in therapy , human-agent social dynamics , and psychophysiological measurements . She employs experimental setups combining eye-tracking, facial expression analysis, and physiological data (e.g., heart rate, skin conductance) to study anxiety-related social behaviors. Evania contributes to teaching at Leiden University, leading the Virtual Reality workgroup in the Applied Cognitive Psychology course and the Psychology of Digital Design course. She also supervises bachelor and master theses. Her professional background includes software development roles in the financial and telecommunication industries (2010–2015), followed by scientific software projects such as digitizing broadcasting archives and developing experimental tools for psychology research. Her PhD project is supervised by Prof. Mariska Kret (Leiden), Prof. Dirk Heylen (University of Twente), and Dr. Esther van den Bos (Leiden). While no specific grants are listed, her collaborative research suggests institutional funding. She participates in interdisciplinary teams focused on virtual reality systems for exposure therapy and digital design psychology.
