Alina E Dolea is an Associate Professor in Strategic Communication and Public Diplomacy at Bournemouth University, serving as Head of the Humanities and Law Department. Her research bridges public diplomacy, nation branding, migration, and media studies, focusing on non-state actors and diaspora dynamics. She holds a PhD in Communication Sciences and has held visiting roles at USC Annenberg and the University of Fribourg. Recognized for her work, she received the 2023 ICA Top Faculty Award and the 2015 EUPRERA PhD Award. Education includes a PhD from the National University of Political Studies (2013), MA in Political Communication (2009), and BA in Communication Sciences (2004). She supervises PhD students in public diplomacy, migration, and nation branding. Key grants include a 2022 USC Center fellowship and Swiss Contribution-funded research (2015). Her 15+ publications address diaspora diplomacy, transnational identity, and post-communist branding. Awards include Fulbright Senior Scholar (2015–2016) and Horizon 2020 Excellence (2017). She chairs the ICA Public Diplomacy Interest Group and advises on digital diplomacy for the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
