Rafał Kuś is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora, Faculty of International and Political Studies, Jagiellonian University, where he has been affiliated since 2010 and formally joined in October 2011. He also lectures at the Jagiellonian University School of Rhetoric and has held visiting positions at Utica College (USA), University of Catania (Italy), and others across Europe. He earned his Ph.D. in American Studies from Jagiellonian University in 2011, defending his dissertation cum laude. His academic interests span American television , public media , media methodology , rhetoric , press law , and linguistics . His research combines historical, legal, and rhetorical analysis of media institutions, particularly in the U.S. context. He has published extensively on PBS, NPR, presidential rhetoric, and media policy. His recent publications reflect a strong focus on political communication , especially crisis and presidential rhetoric (e.g., Bush post-9/11, Trump on Twitter), and the cultural role of public media (e.g., NPR, CBC). He also explores socio-cultural themes like space exploration and national identity. His methodological rigor is evident in his ICPSR training in quantitative methods. Dr. Paweł Stępka Award for Best Doctoral Dissertation in Electronic Media (2012) Dr. Kuś has supervised academic projects and advised the American Studies Academic Circle. He has led research funded by the National Science Center (NCN) and POB Heritage. His editorial roles include language and statistical editor for Zeszyty Prasoznawcze . He has also contributed to academic events as a conference paper presenter in rhetoric, media ethics, and communication research. He is involved in interdisciplinary teams, including a current project on Native American communities in Minnesota, and collaborates with scholars in media, history, and cultural studies. His international lecturing and research collaborations underscore his active role in the academic community.
