Prof. Georg Schied serves as Professor of Programming and Software Technology in the Faculty of Computer Science at Technical University of Applied Sciences Ulm (THU). He holds key administrative roles including Chair of the Bachelor INF/CTS/ICS/DSM Examination Board, Chair of the Master ISY Examination Board, and Deputy Head of the Institute of Computer Science (IFI). Active since joining THU in 2002, he maintains consultation hours by appointment and teaches core computer science subjects. His academic foundation includes: Computer Science studies at University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (1982-1988) Research focuses on software engineering fundamentals with emphasis on programming language implementation, software quality assurance, and theoretical computer science applications. His work bridges compiler construction, domain-specific language design, and program analysis techniques, directly informing his teaching in algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles. Current investigations prioritize practical applications of theoretical frameworks in industrial software development contexts. Prof. Schied supervises final theses on software development methodologies, quality assurance systems, and programming language concepts, offering both predefined internal topics and custom proposals. While specific grant details aren't documented, his 40+ year career spans academic research and industrial practice including SAP AG's ABAP development division. As Deputy Head of IFI, he shapes departmental strategy and curriculum development. Additional engagements include membership in the German Informatics Society (GI) since 1990, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) since 1996, and active participation in the university orchestra as contact person.
