Markéta Pazderková is a researcher at the Institute of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague. She completed her doctoral studies in Biophysics, Chemical and Macromolecular Physics in 2015 and maintains an active research program in biomolecular spectroscopy. Her educational background includes a BSc in General Physics (2007), MSc in Biophysics and Chemical Physics (2009), and PhD (2015), all from Charles University's Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. Her doctoral dissertation focused on "Raman optical activity of biomolecules: from simple models to complex systems." Dr. Pazderková specializes in advanced spectroscopic techniques including Raman optical activity (ROA), Raman spectroscopy, circular dichroism, and infrared spectroscopy of peptides and proteins. Her research focuses on chiroptical studies of disulfide bridges, spectroscopy of hormonally active oligopeptides, and antimicrobial peptides interacting with artificial membranes. She combines experimental approaches with theoretical interpretations to understand biomolecular structure at the molecular level. Her publication record from 2010-2020 demonstrates a clear progression from fundamental studies of small model systems to more complex biological systems. Early work focused on basic spectroscopic properties of nonplanar amide groups and disulfide bridges, while more recent research examines antimicrobial peptides and their interactions with membrane models. The interdisciplinary nature of her work bridges physics, chemistry, and biology with significant applications in structural biology. Dr. Pazderková has led research projects including the GAUK grant "Amide and disulfide structural markers in Raman optical activity spectra" (project ID 578212). She maintains active international collaborations through research stays at BioTools Inc. in Florida and the University at Albany in New York, working with leading researchers in vibrational spectroscopy including Prof. L. A. Nafie, Dr. Rina K. Dukor, and Prof. I. Lednev.
