Professor Laura Andreae holds the position of Professor of Developmental Neuroscience at King's College London, affiliated with the Department of Anatomy, the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, and the School of Neuroscience. She leads the PhD programme in the MRC Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders. Her research focuses on synaptic development, neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., autism, epilepsy, schizophrenia), and employs electrophysiology and imaging techniques. Key collaborators include Professors Juan Burrone, Declan Murphy, Grainne McAlonan, and Albert Basson. Education: MBBS (UCL, 1995), PhD (King's College London, 2004), BA (University of Cambridge, 1992). Research Interests: Synaptic connectivity, neural circuit formation, and disruptions in neurodevelopmental disorders. She investigates how neuronal activity regulates synapse formation and explores genetic models of autism and schizophrenia. Awards and Grants: Leverhulme Trust Research Project Grant (2024), BBSRC grant (2024), Louise Hanson Marshall Special Recognition Award (2023), and a Wellcome Discovery Award (2023). Projects include studying gene regulation in autism and Alzheimer's, and neuronal development mechanisms. Labs/Teams: Active in the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology and collaborates across multiple institutes within King's College London.
