Prof. Fuat ALARÇİN is a Professor at Yildiz Technical University's Naval Architecture and Maritime Faculty, Department of Marine Engineering Operations, where he has been serving since 1998. He has held various leadership positions including Head of Department (2015-2023) and Faculty Board Member. His expertise spans marine engineering, ship automation, and vibration analysis. His educational background includes: Doctorate (1999-2004) from Yildiz Technical University Postgraduate studies (1999-2005) from Yildiz Technical University Undergraduate degree (1992-1996) from Yildiz Technical University's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Prof. ALARÇİN's research focuses on ship control systems, marine automation, and environmental impact of shipping. His work integrates advanced control methodologies with marine engineering applications, particularly in roll stabilization, shaft vibration control, and emission reduction. He has pioneered applications of fuzzy logic and other advanced control techniques in marine environments, addressing critical challenges in ship safety and efficiency. His publication record shows a strong trend toward addressing environmental concerns in maritime operations, particularly ship emissions and ballast water treatment. He has also maintained a consistent focus on ship motion control and vibration analysis, applying sophisticated control methodologies including fuzzy logic, backstepping control, and LMI-based approaches to solve complex marine engineering problems. Prof. ALARÇİN has supervised 16 theses on diverse topics including ship emission analysis and vibration control systems. His academic leadership extends to serving as Head of Department for multiple terms and as a Faculty Board Member.
