Rev. Daniel G. Groody, C.S.C., is a Professor of Theology and Global Affairs and Vice President/Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education at the University of Notre Dame. He has been a Kellogg Institute Faculty Fellow since 2007, focusing on advancing undergraduate education and global justice initiatives. B.A., University of Notre Dame M.Div., Jesuit School of Theology S.T.L. (Licentiate in Sacred Theology), Jesuit School of Theology Ph.D., Graduate Theological Union Postdoctoral work, Oxford University’s Refugee Studies Centre His research bridges theology and migration studies, emphasizing the intersection of faith, human dignity, and displacement. He has authored/co-edited 9 books and produced acclaimed documentaries like Dying to Live and Strangers No Longer , reframing migration through Eucharistic and ethical lenses. Scientific awards include the Catholic Press Association’s First-Place Book Award (2022), Notre Dame’s Sustained Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Rev. William A. Toohey, CSC, Award for Preaching (2019). His grants include Kellogg Institute Research Grants (2005–2018) and Ford Program funding. Fr. Groody teaches courses on heart-centered social change and global leadership, integrating theological reflection with practical advocacy. He combines academic rigor with personal pursuits like downhill skiing, woodworking, and cross-country cycling.
