Dr. Lauren Turek is an Associate Professor of History at Trinity University , where she also directs the Museum Studies Minor and the Diplomacy, Security, War, and Peace Studies concentration. She holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Virginia (2015), an M.A. in Museum Studies from New York University (2007), and a B.A. in History from Vassar College (2005). Education: Ph.D., History, University of Virginia M.A., Museum Studies, New York University M.A., History, University of Virginia B.A., History, Vassar College Her research focuses on Twentieth Century U.S. Foreign Relations , American Religious History , and the International Human Rights Movement , particularly examining the intersection of Evangelical Christian lobbying and foreign policy decisions. She has published extensively on Christian nationalism , disaster relief , and congressional debates over foreign aid. Recent publications include To Bring the Good News to All Nations (Cornell, 2020) and co-edited The Routledge History of Religion and Politics in the United States Since 1775 (Routledge, 2025). Her current work-in-progress Winning Hearts, Minds, and Security: The Politics of Foreign Aid in Twentieth Century America reflects her ongoing analysis of foreign assistance debates . She has received numerous scientific awards and grants , including the Albert J. Beveridge Grant (2012), Gelfand-Rappaport Fellowship (2012), and Trinity Tomorrow Award (2020). Her fieldwork spans archival research in the U.S., Finland, Germany, and Japan, with presentations at over 20 international conferences since 2015. As an educator, she teaches courses on Modern U.S. History , Oral History , and Public History . She also advises student research through programs like the Mellon Initiative Summer Institute and contributes to public history projects as a consultant and exhibit designer.
