Emilia White is a Sessional Assistant Professor in the Department of Computational Arts at York University's School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design (AMPD). She holds a BFA in Theatre & Original Works from Cornish College of the Arts and an MFA in Studio Art from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor. Her academic roles include former positions as Lecturer II at the University of Michigan’s Stamps School of Art & Design and Communications and Arts in Leadership Coordinator at the Lloyd Hall Scholars Program. She currently serves as Program Coordinator for York University’s Integrative Arts program. Her research focuses on interdisciplinary performance art, feminist practices, and inclusive art spaces, emphasizing audience participation and humor to address complex societal issues. She has performed internationally, exhibited visual art in institutions like the Kennedy Museum of Art, and co-curated Detroit’s Performance Laboratory (2011–2015). White’s work often repurposes everyday materials to create DIY aesthetic experiences that challenge traditional art environments. Teaching highlights include courses on Creative Methodologies, Ethics in the Arts, and Interdisciplinary Arts Capstone Studios. She contributes to the Sensorium: Centre for Digital Arts and Technology research unit and oversees graduate committees for Master’s candidates. Her professional networks span academic, artistic, and community engagement roles in North America and Indonesia.
