Dr. Paul H. Davis is an Assistant Dean of Research in the College of Engineering and Principal Research Scholar at the Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering at Boise State University. With appointments since 2012, he oversees the Surface Science Laboratory (SSL) while maintaining active collaborations across physics, chemistry, and materials science disciplines. PhD in Chemical Physics, Stanford University Postdoctoral Fellowship, Santa Clara University Dr. Davis specializes in ultrafast nonlinear spectroscopy (including VSFG), nanomaterials characterization , and surface science instrumentation (AFM/SEM). His work intersects materials development , corrosion analysis , and biomedical applications through scanning probe microscopy. Current research trends include: Advanced semiconductor contact engineering Molecular dimer configuration analysis Ophthalmological biomechanics Battery material characterization Corrosion mapping in metallic welds Dr. Davis leads significant NSF and NIGMS-funded projects focused on: Integrated AFM/confocal microscopy systems Nanoscale characterization infrastructure The Surface Science Lab under his direction serves as a multi-disciplinary research hub supporting collaborations across condensed matter physics, biomedical engineering, and materials development initiatives.
