Ingo Breunig

PD Dr. Ingo Breunig is a Research Professor and leads the Nonlinear Optics research group at the Laboratory for Optical Systems within the Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) at the University of Freiburg. He has been in this role since 2011. In 2016, he was appointed a Guest Associate Professor (Global) at Keio University's Graduate School of Science and Technology in Japan. He completed his habilitation in Microsystems Engineering at the Technical Faculty of the University of Freiburg in 2018. His research focuses on optical materials, nonlinear-optical phenomena, and whispering gallery resonators. Breunig holds a PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Bonn, where he also worked as a Postdoc after his studies in physics at the University of Rostock (2004).
