Sanna Lehtinen is a Senior University Lecturer and Research Fellow at the Department of Transdisciplinary Art Studies (TAITE) within Aalto University's School of Arts, Design and Architecture. She holds a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Helsinki (2015) and is a Docent of Aesthetics at the same institution. Her research focuses on urban environmental aesthetics, transgenerational aesthetics, and the philosophy of the city, with a particular emphasis on aesthetic sustainability and the role of new urban technologies. She has authored numerous articles in journals like Open Philosophy and edited volumes for publishers such as Routledge and Oxford University Press, and has co-edited special issues for Environmental Values and Contemporary Aesthetics . Dr. Lehtinen has held leadership roles, including President of the Finnish Society for Aesthetics (2019–21), Co-Director of the Philosophy of the City Research Group, and Affiliate Member of the 4TU Centre for Ethics and Technology. She is currently Codirector of the international Philosophy of the City Research Group and Assistant Editor of Contemporary Aesthetics . Her teaching includes approximately five courses annually at Aalto ARTS and Aalto SCI, and she supervises doctoral and master’s students at Aalto and the University of Helsinki. Her research interests extend to the intersection of aesthetics, technology, and urban sustainability. She has been shortlisted for the Pavilion of Finland at the Biennale Architettura 2023 and frequently engages in public outreach through media appearances, lectures, and workshops. Her work addresses contemporary challenges in urban design, including eco-anxiety, intergenerational equity, and the ethical integration of technology in public spaces.
