Dr. Michael O'Shea is a Lecturer in Structural Engineering at the University College Cork (UCC), within the School of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering. He holds a BEng, MEngSc, and PhD from UCC, and is a chartered engineer with over 15 years of industry experience in civil, structural, and offshore sectors. His research focuses on structural health monitoring, offshore renewable energy, and coastal infrastructure resilience. Notable projects include the Rossbeigh Cliff Bypass and Port Botany Expansion. Since 2020, he has secured over €1 million in research funding from SFI, GSI, SEAI, and industry partners. Current projects include the Horizon Europe WEDUSEA initiative and GEOBIM. He advises PhD students on structural health monitoring and subsea superconductors.
