Miguel Basto-Pereira, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at ISPA University Institute in Lisbon, Portugal, where he serves as the Founder and Co-Director of the Master's in Forensic Psychology program. He is a researcher at the William James Center for Research, focusing on developmental pathways of antisocial behavior and criminal persistence through international collaborations across five continents. His research interests include: Criminal Psychology and Developmental Criminology Risk and Protective Factors for Criminal Behavior Cross-Cultural Universality of Antisocial Behavior Parenting Interventions for Childhood Behavior Problems Longitudinal Analysis of Criminal Career Development Dr. Basto-Pereira's work demonstrates exceptional methodological rigor through longitudinal studies and cross-national comparisons. His research with the Cambridge Study in Delinquent Development has illuminated temporal sequences of multisystemic factors underlying antisocial behavior, while his International Study of Pro/Antisocial Behaviour spans 10 countries to examine cultural universality of risk factors.
