Marianna Anichini is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Geosciences, University of Bergen, Norway. She works within the Department of Earth Science, focusing on geophysics and marine environments. Her research spans acoustics, underwater soundscapes, and geohazard detection in the High Arctic. Her work involves analyzing oceanographic and acoustic data from the HiAOOS mooring network, studying tank soundscapes in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), and exploring vocal interaction rhythms in marine mammals and bushcrickets. She collaborates with institutions like the Bergen Architecture School (BAS) and Nofima AS. Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding Atlantic salmon behavior through computer vision and sonar, as well as geohazard monitoring in the Arctic. Her approach integrates biological insights with engineering solutions. Outreach activities include a 2024 Pint of Science talk on Arctic research and contributions to the 2022 "Havet i endring" exhibition at Bergen Aquarium. She is supported by grants from the Research Council of Norway and Nofima AS.
