Tamara Isakova, MD, MMSc , is the Fowler McCormick Professor of Nephrology and Professor of Medicine (Nephrology and Hypertension) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She concurrently serves as Chief of Nephrology and Hypertension in the Department of Medicine and as Director of the Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM) Center for Translational Metabolism and Health. Dr. Isakova is affiliated with the Feinberg Cardiovascular and Renal Research Institute and the Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS). Her work elucidates pathways linking FGF23, phosphate, vitamin D metabolites, and novel gut-derived factors to cardiovascular and renal endpoints. She leads the NIH-funded TRIDENT study, a multi-center cohort designed to redefine diabetic nephropathy through molecular phenotyping of kidney biopsies, and she heads the Chronic Kidney Disease Research Biorepository that supports biomarker validation across the translational continuum.
