Magdalena Skowyra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), affiliated with The Danish Polymer Centre. Her research is centered on advanced polymer materials with applications in energy, environmental sustainability, and smart materials. Her research interests include polymer material engineering, fluorescence microscopy, radiation processing, dielectric elastomer actuators, and sustainable solutions for oil well abandonment. She works on functional polymers that respond to stimuli such as radiation and electrical fields, with a focus on real-world engineering applications. The recent publications highlight her work in two main directions: (1) development of environmentally friendly thermosetting resins for temporary and permanent plugging of oil wells, emphasizing pumpability, durability, and low environmental impact; and (2) design and fabrication of fiber-format dielectric elastomer actuators for soft robotics and artificial muscles. A significant earlier contribution involves radiofluorogenic polymers for visualizing electron beam penetration depth in radiation processing, combining materials science with radiation physics. No scientific awards or honors are mentioned in the provided text. She actively collaborates with PhD students and senior researchers, particularly within the group led by Professor Anne Ladegaard Skov. While no formal advisees are listed, she has supervised research activities and contributed to PhD projects. Her work is supported by institutional and possibly national research funding, as evidenced by her completed PhD project on radiochromic and radiofluorogenic materials. Magdalena Skowyra is a key contributor to the Danish Polymer Centre at DTU, where her research integrates materials synthesis, characterization, and application-driven engineering. Her team focuses on translating polymer innovations into scalable, sustainable technologies for industrial and environmental challenges.
