Мелина Калагасидис Крушић is a Full Professor at the Department of Organic Chemical Technology, Technical Metallurgy Faculty (University of Belgrade). Her research focuses on polymer engineering, environmental applications, and biomaterials. She holds a position in the Department of Organic Chemical Technology and has been active in academia since at least 2003. Her work emphasizes sustainable materials, drug delivery systems, and nanotechnology-based solutions for environmental challenges. Research interests include polymer synthesis for water treatment, photocatalytic degradation of pollutants, and smart hydrogels for controlled release of active compounds. She has mentored numerous PhD, Master's, and undergraduate students in areas like polymer composites, environmental remediation, and biomaterials. Publications highlight contributions to chitosan-based nanocomposites, hydrogel applications in drug delivery, and enzymatic catalysis using immobilized lipases. Her work often bridges chemical engineering and environmental science, addressing real-world challenges such as textile dye removal and heavy metal adsorption. She advises students on topics ranging from biodegradable packaging to superabsorbent materials. Her research has led to collaborations in supercritical fluid processing and biofilm applications.
