Riina Richardson is a Clinical Senior Lecturer (Hon Cons Stat) in the Division of Evolution, Infection and Genomics at the University of Manchester, part of the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. She is also an Honorary Consultant for Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Head of Service for the NHS Mycology Reference Centre Manchester. Her roles include leading the MBChB Programme’s Infectious Diseases curriculum and serving as PI for the Manchester Fungal Infection Group (MFIG). She holds a DDS, PhD, FRCPath, and FECMM. Her research focuses on fungal pathogenesis, antifungal resistance, and medical education, with over 180 peer-reviewed publications and an h-index of 53. Key interests include chronic mucosal candidiasis, biofilm formation, and antifungal stewardship. Dr. Richardson’s awards include Fellowships from the Royal College of Pathologists and the European Confederation of Medical Mycology. She contributes extensively to professional bodies, including the British Society for Medical Mycology and ESCMID. Her recent articles emphasize global guidelines for candidiasis, antifungal resistance in Trichophyton, and fungal biofilms. She collaborates internationally, addressing challenges in diagnostics and therapy for invasive fungal infections.
