Stefan M. Brudzynski is Professor of Psychology at Brock University, where he directs research on neural mechanisms of behavior with emphasis on vocalization and locomotion. His laboratory employs multidisciplinary approaches including behavioral testing, neuropharmacology, and electrophysiology to investigate brain structures regulating behavioral patterns. Brudzynski's research program examines ultrasonic vocal communication in rats as indicators of emotional states, with particular focus on the mesolimbic cholinergic system's role in initiating negative emotional states. His work has established fundamental principles of rat ultrasonic communication and its neurochemical substrates, contributing to models of affective disorders.
