Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Andreas Bernecker is a Professor of Economics at FH Aachen - University of Applied Sciences since 2018. His teaching focuses on quantitative economics and artificial intelligence in business, with affiliations to the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and the Faculty Council of the Department of Economics. He has held leadership roles including Vice Dean for Studies and Teaching (2021–2024). Doctorate in Economics (2014, University of Mannheim) Master of Science in Economic Research (2011, University of Mannheim) Bachelor of Science in Economics (2009, University of Mannheim) His research bridges empirical political economics, public economics, and policy innovation. Key themes include electoral incentives for reforms, divided government impacts, and digitalization in higher education. Recent work explores AI integration in business and sustainable public-sector initiatives. Scientific awards include multiple FH Aachen Teaching Awards (2025, 2024, 2022, 2020, 2019) and the NRW State Teaching Award (2021). He received the Musgrave Prize (2013) and Lecture Award from the Swiss National Bank (2013). As a Trust Lecturer, Bernecker contributes to policy dialogues and co-edits the Aachen Online Publications on Economics and Law. His teaching spans macroeconomics, international economics, and AI applications in business.
