Jason Slyer is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Practice Programs at Pace University’s College of Health Professions, where he also serves as a double alumnus of the Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. With over 13 years of faculty experience and more than 20 years in clinical practice as a family nurse practitioner specializing in cardiac and chronic disease management, he is a leader in evidence-based practice and translational research. FNP-DNP, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Pace University MS, Family Nurse Practitioner, Pace University BA, Biology, State University of New York at Buffalo AAS, Nursing, Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing Dr. Slyer’s research focuses on shared decision-making , person-centered care , and the PRIME-NP competency model to enhance nurse practitioner education and clinical outcomes. He is deeply committed to advancing evidence-based methodologies in nursing practice and education. His recent publications and presentations center on heart failure management, medication adherence, and innovative educational models. The body of work reflects a strong trend toward synthesizing clinical evidence for practical application in primary and acute care settings, particularly in cardiovascular and chronic disease domains. Scientific Awards: Fellow, New York Academy of Medicine Distinguished Fellowship in the National Academies of Practice, Nursing Academy Dr. Slyer has secured competitive research funding, including the Dean’s Summer Research Award for extending the PRIME-NP Model in a multisite study. He actively mentors doctoral students through the Nurse Practitioner Doctoral Project mentorship courses and contributes to curriculum development at institutional and national levels. His leadership extends to serving as Assistant Director of Education at NEST, a JBI Center of Excellence. He is actively involved in professional service, including as Senior Associate Editor for JBI Evidence Synthesis , member of the JBI Cardiovascular Expert Reference Group, and co-chair of the NONPF Annual Conference Planning Committee. He also leads key university committees related to curriculum and faculty governance at Pace.
