His research is centered on improving pain assessment and management in non-communicative critically ill patients, particularly those with acquired brain injury. He is a key member of the SEEIUC Working Group on Analgesia, Sedation, Restraints, and Delirium (ASCyD), serving as Pain Representative since 2020, and contributes to the Research Group on Health, Gender, and Aging at the University of Girona. His work bridges clinical practice and academic inquiry, focusing on behavioral pain scales, electrophysiological monitoring, sedation challenges, and ethical nursing practices in intensive care.
The most recent articles (2024–2025) reflect a strong focus on validating and refining tools for pain assessment in non-communicative ICU patients, including the ESCID-DC scale and electrophysiological methods. Earlier works examine sedation protocols, delirium, physical restraints, and systemic challenges in critical care nursing, indicating a consistent trajectory toward patient-centered, evidence-based ICU practices. The publications span clinical innovation, psychometric validation, and national benchmarking studies, all contributing to safer and more ethical ICU environments.
His scientific recognition includes:
- Best Original Article Award 2016, Elsevier Spain, for Enfermería Intensiva
- 3rd Prize for Best Oral Communication, XXXIV National Congress of the Spanish Association of Cardiovascular Nursing (2013)
