Gary Pielak is a Kenan Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Biophysics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a joint appointment in the School of Medicine. His research focuses on high-resolution protein NMR studies in living cells and the biophysics of tardigrade desiccation-tolerance proteins, bridging structural biology and molecular biophysics.
