Katarzyna Jagodzińska is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Society and Cultural Heritage of Europe within the Institute of European Studies at Jagiellonian University. She holds a PhD in Art History (2012) and two master’s degrees in Art History and Journalism & Social Communication. Currently also serving as Chief Specialist at the European Heritage Institute , she has authored books like Museums and Centers of Contemporary Art in Central Europe after 1989 (2020) and Czas muzeów w Europie Środkowej (2014). Research interests focus on museology, cultural heritage, and contemporary art, particularly examining participatory museum models, adaptive reuse of industrial architecture, and socio-economic impacts of heritage. Her work explores the post-1989 museum boom in Central Europe, museum-community dynamics, and the role of cultural institutions in urban regeneration. As Project Manager for grants like Atlas muzealnej partycypacji (2020-2021), she has shaped research on cultural democratization. Recent publications analyze participatory museums, war heritage, and post-museum concepts. Her 2014 monograph provides the first comprehensive analysis of 28 contemporary art institutions in Central Europe. Articles in RIHA Journal and Zarządzanie w Kulturze examine museum expansion, third-place theory, and audience agency. She has lectured at Krakow Academy and participated in international conferences on museum ethics and heritage policy.
