Milena Kaličanin is an Associate Professor at the Department of English Studies, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Niš, Serbia. She has been teaching at the institution since December 1999, progressing from assistant-trainee to her current position as Associate Professor, which she attained in November 2019. Her teaching encompasses undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies across a wide range of courses in English literature and cultural studies. Dr. Kaličanin earned her BA in 1999, MA in 2009, and PhD in 2013, all from the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš. Her academic journey has been marked by steady progression through the ranks, beginning as an assistant-trainee in Medieval and Renaissance English Literature before advancing to assistant professor and ultimately associate professor. Her research spans Anglo-American literature and culture, with particular focus on Renaissance English literature, British cultural studies, Scottish cultural studies, and Canadian cultural studies. She has published extensively on Shakespeare, postcolonial studies, and contemporary literary trends, with a special interest in national identity formation through literature and cultural representation. Her work often examines the intersection of literature, history, and cultural politics, particularly in Scottish and Canadian contexts. Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on Scottish literature and cultural identity, postcolonial studies, Shakespearean analysis, and contemporary literary trends. She frequently examines themes of national identity, gender studies, and cultural representation across different literary traditions, with particular attention to marginalized voices and alternative perspectives. Dr. Kaličanin has designed and proposed several innovative courses including 'Scottish Cultural Studies,' 'Scottish Short Story,' and 'Marlowe, Shakespeare and the Legacy of the Renaissance.' She was also involved in the 'Master's Degree in Digital Humanities' project at the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš, where she proposed the course 'Digital Forms of Literature.' She serves as a member of the teaching team for omnibus subjects including 'Literature and Private Life,' 'Literature and Politics,' and 'Contemporary Women Writers in Canada.'
