Assoc. Prof. Ognyana Georgieva-Teneva, DSc, holds an Associate Professor position at the Department of New Bulgarian Studies, New Bulgarian University (NBU). Her academic career spans over four decades, beginning with her Master's in Bulgarian Language and Literature from Sofia University (1981). She earned a Doctor of Philology (1997) and later a Doctor of Philological Sciences (2022). Her research focuses on literary education methodologies, modern Bulgarian language, children's literature, and civic education. She has authored monographs such as Large periodicals and literature for the little ones (2024) and contributed to numerous peer-reviewed articles. As an educator, she teaches courses like Methodology of Teaching Bulgarian Language and Literature and Literary Education in a Civic Perspective . Her editorial roles include Managing Editor of Criticism (1999–2006) and Editor-in-Chief of Bulgarian Language and Literature (1985–2011). She is affiliated with organizations such as the International Journal of Cognitive Research in Science, Engineering and Education (SCOPUS) editorial board and the Association of Professors of Slavonic Countries. Her recent publications emphasize cross-cultural analysis, civic values in literature, and pedagogical innovation. She actively engages in public debates on educational reform and the role of literature in fostering critical thinking. Her work bridges literary theory with practical teaching methods, emphasizing dialogue-based learning and media literacy.
