Cheryl L. Brown is Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She holds affiliations with the School of Data Science, Social Aspects of Health Initiative, CyberDNA Center, and the AI Center for Human Digital Twin and Computational Health. Her research bridges political science, public policy, and technology ethics, focusing on data privacy, AI ethics, and China’s innovative policies. Dr. Brown has a Ph.D. in Political Science (Chinese Studies) from the University of Michigan and has held prestigious fellowships including the American Council on Education Fellowship and UN Fellowships. Her research explores intersections of emerging technologies with health data privacy, cultural ethics, and governance frameworks. Recent work addresses fair AI/ML approaches to heart transplant disparities, algorithmic bias in healthcare, and cross-cultural tech acceptance. She leads an NIH-funded AIM-AHEAD grant on health equity in heart transplants through fair AI methods. Dr. Brown’s academic writings span cyberspace governance, women’s rights in China, and RFID technology’s societal impacts.
