Jérôme Duberry serves as Managing Director of the Tech Hub, Academic Advisor for the Executive Programme in Diplomacy, Negotiation and Policy-Making, and Senior Research Fellow at the Albert Hirschman Center on Democracy (AHCD) at the University of Zurich. He focuses on the social, political, and geopolitical implications of artificial intelligence (AI) in democratic processes and governance. He has also trained in foresight and design thinking facilitation. Duberry's research spans AI's impact on democracy, digital threats to political participation, AI literacy for youth, and the role of emerging technologies in environmental governance. He advocates for human-centered AI governance prioritizing equality, freedom, and human rights. His work includes cross-disciplinary analysis of AI's societal implications, such as media framing during the pandemic and digital diplomacy in cyberspace. Recent publications highlight trends in AI-mediated political communication, disinformation operations, and digital tools for sustainability. He explores how AI and big data reshape biodiversity conservation, international relations, and cybersecurity. His 2022 book Artificial Intelligence and Democracy remains a central contribution to the field. Duberry has received funding from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) since 2022 for a project on AI literacy and youth engagement. As a visiting professor, he teaches courses on digital technologies and futures in the MINT program, covering topics like cybersecurity, digital diplomacy, and strategic foresight. He is affiliated with the Albert Hirschman Center on Democracy , the Tech Hub , and the Digital Society Initiative of the University of Zurich, contributing to multidisciplinary research on technology's societal impacts.
