Lauren M. Hill, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior at the University of North Carolina’s Gillings School of Global Public Health. She is also a member of the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases. Her research focuses on developing behavioral interventions to address HIV/AIDS risk and treatment outcomes, with a particular emphasis on women’s health and multilevel determinants of health behaviors globally and domestically. Education: PhD in Health Behavior, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health (2017) MSPH in Health Behavior, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health (2013) BA in Public Health Studies, Johns Hopkins University (2008) Research Interests: Dr. Hill’s work bridges behavioral science and public health to improve HIV prevention and treatment outcomes. Her current projects include developing community- and clinic-based interventions to promote the use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention in Malawi and North Carolina. She also investigates the interplay between stress (including pandemic-related stress), mental health, and adherence to antiretroviral therapy. Her methods integrate behavioral interventions, shared decision-making frameworks, and mixed-methods approaches. Grants & Awards: Recipient of Gillings Innovation Lab (GIL) awards to study generative AI in public health.
