Dr. Chwan-Li (Leslie) Shen is a Professor of Pathology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) and an Adjunct Professor of Nutritional Sciences at Texas Tech University. She serves as Associate Dean for Research in the School of Medicine and Founding Director of the Center of Excellence for Integrative Health at TTUHSC. Her research spans translational nutrition, metabolic health, and pain management, with funding from NIH, USDA, industry, and private foundations. Clinical Professor of Laboratory Sciences and Primary Care at TTUHSC’s School of Health Professions Over 140 peer-reviewed publications, 4 book chapters, and 130+ national/international talks Research Interests : Dr. Shen investigates bioactive compounds (e.g., green tea, ginger root extract) in functional foods, focusing on their impacts on osteoporosis, obesity, diabetes, neuropathic pain, and neurodegenerative diseases via microbiome-gut-brain axis mechanisms. Her work bridges animal studies and human clinical trials.
