Dr David Li is a Senior Lecturer (Reader) in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. His research focuses on time-resolved imaging and spectroscopy systems, fluorescence-based sensing, digital signal processing, embedded systems, and AI-enhanced image analysis for biomedical applications. University of Strathclyde (2014–present) University of Edinburgh (2007–2011) National University of Defence Technology (Global Engagement, 2014–2015) Research interests span Biomedical Engineering , Optoelectronics , and Artificial Intelligence , with applications in glucose sensing , cancer diagnosis , and brain blood flow monitoring . Collaborations include institutions in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, France, China, the USA, and Taiwan. Recent publications (2025) highlight deep learning implementations for diffuse correlation spectroscopy and SPAD array technologies , with societal impact in hydrogen fuel safety and ophthalmic imaging . Teaching duties include: BE905: Biosignal Processing and Analysis (Spring) BE908: Biomedical Instrumentation (Autumn) He actively supervises PhD students and offers two 4-year EPSRC Applied Photonics EngD and one 3-year PhD studentship in 2025.
